Lots To Do This Weekend

Catskill Brewery 04.10.15With so much to do, it sure is starting to feel like spring around here!

Start your weekend off tonight at The Catskill Brewery, 672 Old Route 17, with their Live Music Fridays series featuring Karen Hudson and Chris Larson from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Tomorrow (Saturday, April 11) is the long-awaited official Season Opener for the 2015 Trout Season! Make sure to catch the celebratory first cast at 9:30 a.m. on the Willowemoc Creek just upstream from the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum Bridge, 1031 Old Route 17. This year’s casters are all kids! The Lake family, Rylie, Silas & Veida, and Iris and Roan Gillingham will lead an under age 16 group to cast the first flies on the frigid water of the Catskills.

Numerous activities will follow throughout the day at the CFFCM, including a sampling of Agnes Van Put’s famous soups, the 14th annual Fly Tyers Rendezvous, activities for children and a guided tour of the Museum. After lunch, there will also be free outdoor casting lessons, weather permitting, for all ages and abilities.

Later on Saturday, The Laugh Tour returns to The Arnold House, featuring Susan Prekel, Rich Kiamko and Jonathan McBride, starting at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available online or at the door. We also hear The Plunk Shop, 39 Main Street, will be open again, starting this weekend!
