Weekend Preview: August 7-10

Catskill Brewery Summer (2)Lots to do this weekend, especially if you enjoy art, birds, craft beer and live music!

Make sure to check out the Karen Hudson River Band at The Arnold House Friday at 9:00 p.m.

Then on Saturday, start off with a Downtown Bird Walk at 10:30 a.m. with Lance Verderame. Meet at Morgan Outdoors, 46 Main Street, for a stroll around the corner to Renaissance Park. Lance will bring a powerful spotting scope but many species should also be right within view. Bring your own binoculars and camera. Please RSVP to 845-439-5507.

Make sure to see Catskill Birds, an exhibition featuring Lance Verderame’s photographs in the Catskill Park Room at Morgan Outdoors while you’re there. Lance’s beautiful images are grouped by each bird’s habitat and keyed to a map where you can go for your own birding adventure.

Then on Saturday afternoon, the CAS Arts Center, 48Main Street, is hosting two openings, including Audobon and Friends Too, curated by Kate Hyden. The festivities begin with an Artist Talk at 2:00 p.m. and then an Opening Reception from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Aviary, curated by Elizabeth Ennis, will open in the Elevator Gallery at CAS with a reception from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Also on Saturday, The Catskill Brewery, 672 Old Route 17, is hosting its first Annual Summer Celebration from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Join Mark Ruffalo and The Catskill Brewery to celebrate 100% Leadership and support The Solutions Project.

Enjoy 100% local, refreshing beer and sample great food (by Fearless Cooking) at one of the country’s greenest breweries, all while listening to good music (by Moonshine Holler) and inspiring words from The Solutions Project co-founder Mark Ruffalo and Executive Director Sarah Shanley Hope.

Admission is free, and half of all proceeds from beverage and food sales will go to the 100% Leadership Fund, a project of The Solutions Project.
