Covered Bridges &
Cabooses
Take Route 17 East to Exit 100, turn left at stop sign. Continue
through both traffic lights. Drive along Rt. 52 past Loch Sheldrake
Lake and make a right on Divine Corners Rd. (across form the
entrance to Sullivan County Community College).
At the juncture of Rt. 55, make a right and go East around
the Neversink reservoir; continue to the Chestnut Creek Covered
Bridge, proceed on Rt. 55 to the hamlet of Grahamsville and
its National Register historic district. Returning on Rt.
55W, turn right onto C.R. 19 to visit the Halls Mills Covered
Bridge.
Leave and turn left (West) on Town Rd. 39 to Willowemoc (located
in the State Forest Preserve), pick up Town Rd. 53 and subsequently
make a left, travel on Town Rd. 18 to the Willowemoc Covered
Bridge. Return to Town Rd. 53 and follow it into DeBruce.
A side trip North on Town Rd. 40 goes to the State Fish Hatchery*
and Mongaup Pond. Take DeBruce Rd. to County Rd. 179 and turn
right to the Livingston Manor Covered Bridge ("Mott's
Flat Bridge"). From there continue on County Rd. 179
for 1/4 mile and turn right on County Rd. 151, passing Waneta
Lake and turn left onto Town Rd. 29 to the Beaverkill Covered
Bridge (for a day use fee you can swim, fish & picnic).Take
County Rd. 151 to County Rd. 179 turn right and travel approximately
1/2 mi. to Catskill Fly Fishing Center Museum, (tours available,
admission) . Turn left onto County Rd. 179 and proceed to
the hamlet of Roscoe. In Roscoe, TROUT TOWN USA, visit Junction
Pool, ( a famous fishing hole) and the caboose of the Ontario
and Western Railway Museum. There is direct access to Rt.
17 from Roscoe (to return to Livingston Manor, take Route
17 East to Exit 96).
